Mr. Girish Tanti
GWEC India Chair and Vice Chairman, Suzlon
Girish Tanti is the Vice Chairman and founding member of Suzlon Energy Limited. He is an engineer with an MBA from UK.
Over his twenty-seven years of global renewables business experience, he has lived and worked across Europe, USA and Asia. As co-founder of Suzlon, he incubated the renewable energy business in 1995, led the establishment of technology development centres in Europe and India, set-up the global supply chain and developed wind markets across India, USA, Canada, Europe, China, Australia, South America and South Africa. His efforts have been vital to Suzlon’s rise to become the only renewable energy player from a developing nation to rank among the top five worldwide in the early 2000s. He is also the founding member of Suzlon Foundation which has grown to become a leading grass root rural development foundation in India.
Mr. Tanti champions the industry in India to drive policy reform as the Co-Chair of National Committee on Renewable Energy of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Vice Chairman on the Board of Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), Chairman of GWEC India, Chairman of Global Supply Chain Forum for Manufacturers of GWEC and is also actively engaged with various global forums on Climate Change and Energy Transition.
