Mr. Jayarama Prasad Chalasani brings with him a rich experience of more than 40 yearsin the Indian infrastructure industry, transcending a mix of both public and private sectors, at companies such as NTPC, Reliance Power Ltd, Punj Lloyd, and Suzlon. He is a mechanical engineer who is widely acclaimed for his project management and people leadership skills. Rated among Asia's Best CEOs on multiple occasions, Mr. Chalasani has been recognized for his leadership and employee engagement skills.

He started his career with a public sector enterprise – NTPC, and grew up the ranks over the years. During his stint at NTPC for over 16 years, he has helmed various roles while executing numerous power projects. Mr. Chalasani’s next assignment was with the Reliance Group. As CEO, he was instrumental in Reliance Power becoming the largest private sector company in power by market capitalization. He was also responsible for starting India’s largest coal mine operations in the shortest possible time. He has also led the transition of BSES from a power distribution to an infrastructure company. He successfully led the bid process for Delhi Power Distribution System (in the year 2002) and was the first CEO of two Discoms acquired by BSES.

After Reliance Power, Mr. Chalasani was with the Punj Lloyd Group (a Global EPC company) as the Group CEO and Managing Director. Spearheading the Group, his primary focus was on improving operations, augmenting processes, and strengthening various business entities.

Mr. JP Chalasani had been the Group CEO of the Suzlon Group for the period from April 2016 till July 2020. Asthe Group CEO, hisrole wasimproving operations, enhancing and simplifying processes, and leveraging both HR and Finance to position the company for strong and sustainable growth while creating value for stakeholders. A strong believer in business fundamentals, technology, and innovative business models, he spearheaded the overall performance of the organisation.

Post his cessation as the Group CEO he continued as Strategic Advisor to the Suzlon Group till March 2023 and was also an Independent Power Sector Consultant. Mr. Chalasani once again took up the assignment of Group CEO of Suzlon from April 2023 and is currently holding his position.

In his career spanning 40 years, Mr. Chalasani led business operations across the value chain of the power sector, from Generation to Retail power distribution. He is an active participant in formulation of many government Policies in Power Sector. A family person at heart, his first preference is to spend quality time at home. Passionate about reading and fitness, he reads non-fiction and enjoys sports.
