Dr Prabir Kumar Dash
Scientist-D
Wind Energy Division Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

Presently working towards Policy formulation, regulatory aspects and planning of wind energy development (onshore and offshore) in India covering various areas such as resource assessment, manufacturing, bidding guidelines, implementation & monitoring of SECI bided wind and wind-solar hybrid projects, and research & developmental in wind energy sector.  (From Nov, 2014 to till date)

I was instrumental in establishment of the photovoltaic module test laboratory in Solar Energy Centre (now National Institute of solar energy (NISE)) and its NABL accreditation as per ISO 17025 standards which is immensely contributing the solar energy sector in India.   (From May, 2010 to Nov, 2014)

Besides, I am involved in preparation of quality standards for secondary cells and wind turbine generators as a member of the BIS technical committees TC11 and TC 42 respectively.

My research interest includes the following;

  1. Performance mapping of various PV technologies in Indian climatic conditions.
  2. Reliability assessment of PV technologies and development of test protocols for Indian conditions.
  3. Techno economic feasibility of wind-solar-storage hybrid systems
  4. Offshore wind potential assessment and feasibility study for India

Before joining MNRE, I was working for a Joint Project between Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) & Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) towards developing an underwater propulsion system from Feb, 2005 to May, 2010 at BARC, Bombay campus.

Completed my MSc (Physics) from Utkal University, Odiasha in 2004 and PhD from GGSIPU, Dwarka, Delhi in 2019 on the topic ‘Performance Mapping of various Solar PV Technology in Indian Climatic Conditions’.
